Make TODAY Count : Book Review #2/36

Make Today Count : Review

In this book, John Maxwell provides the reader with 12 steps that if made part of your life will help you succeed. I do agree personally, that these 12 will help allow the reader reach success.  The book is practical and more of a supplementary guide to helping the reader layout what commitments must be made to change your life. Maxwell does provide a little insight into what prompted him to start the journey of personal development and even detailed some of those that have helped him along the way.

I personally didn’t really get any “ah-ha” moments from this read, but I can say it was a good read in the sense that it helps reiterate what I have learned throughout the years.  I usally go into a book looking just for 1 idea that will give me growth, I personally just didn’t find it in this book.  This book is still a must read because of the fact that we all need a little reminder and tweak on the skills we have already developed.

On the other hand, if a person has never ventured into personal development, then  I can see how much value this book will bring. It can be the foundation upon which their life is built
Below is a quick list of what the 12 essential principles are.

Hosting Trends of 2016

Hosting Trends of 2016

The website development community has grown enormously in the past years. More people are coming into the field of web designing, coding and blogging. For better results in website development and curation field, an impeccable web hosting is required. A lot of companies, from small start-ups to very huge companies offer different types of hosting solutions to the user. In the beginning, people just needed just any server space to hold their files and websites. Now the trend has entirely changed and people are specifically looking for selective qualities in hosting companies to suit their needs. These are a few latest hosting trends we have noticed.

#1. Niche Hosting
Each individual website has a very specific function to perform. The requirements for the hosting server changes according to this function. Back in the day, people would just buy a general hosting plan and upload their files. Now they started to select hosting based upon very specific needs. For example, some hosting providers are optimized for hosting blogs. Some other provides better security and safety for the content. So if the webmaster cares deeply about the security of the content, they might choose the hosting with higher security. Or if he is a blogger, the priority gets inclined to handling higher number of visitors at once.
#2. More Features
Now a days, it’s not just about storing some files on the web server. People are making use of these technologies as much as they can. It’s obvious that the company which gives more features to its customer will dominate in the industry. If Hosting A provides 1 GB of space for 10$ and Hosting B provides the same for 8$, the outcome is obvious that Hosting B will get chosen. Of course there are other factors like quality of their service. But putting these aside, people like to pay less for more features.

#3. SSD is the King
SSD (Solid State Drive) is the ultimately fast storage technology existing now. Major hosting providers have already moved on to SSD. Having a web hosting with SSD makes a huge difference. Higher the data transfer rate, the better will be the website loading time. Of course it’s costlier than the old storage techs. But for customers with high number of visitors, it’s worth it.

#4. All in One Packages are a Good Deal

What good is a hosting service without having a domain to link to it? When someone wants to host something on the web, they need both domain name and server space. Most of the providers offer package deals which are good deals for the customers. They can purchase domain and hosting from the same company along with the additional features like encrypted connection (HTTPS), dedicated IP address and other stuff. This makes it easier to manage all of them from on control panel. Also the hassle of setting the name servers and pointing your domain towards the hosting can be avoided, as these all in one packages provide very easy interfaces to manage all domain redirections easily.

Sell or Be SOLD #1 of 36

This book is on fire in every regard. There is literally actionable items in every single chapter that will improve your life.  I have to confess that I am a little bias towards the author Grant Cardone, as I am a firm believer in his teachings, trainings, and content.

At first glance you might look at this book and think it is only for salespeople, that is where I was wrong. This can be used by every single person in the world, because deep down, we are all selling something, whether it is an idea or product.

Two HUGE nuggets in this book seem like common sense but harldy practiced by the average person.

1. Be agreeable
Agree with your customer. Never, ever , ever make the customer wrong. Try this next time when you are with a customer or significant other. When the other person says, " that is too much money,"  you turnaround and say "I agree that is too much money, everyone who has ever looked at this product has said the same thing right before they purchased it."
True Game Changer, this one skill alone has elevated my personal game over the last few years.

2.  Nothing happens to you, it happens because of you:
Once you are able to accept full responsibility for everything that happens in your life, you will have a new found perspective. Early on in my sales career, I would blame the customer for not closing a deal and thinking of every excuse under the sun why THEY didn't buy.  Obviously I was wrong in my thinking. A customer doesn't make a purchase because there is usually an unspoken objection that wasn't covered or a piece of information is missing. Overall though that customer was not buying because of me and my poor skill set early on. Now, when a deal doesn't close, I look at it and examine what I did wrong and what is missing, because the customer has every intention of buying, there is just something that I did not do well that put the barrier there.
Overall though, we just have to take responsibility for all of our actions.

I recommend this book to everyone and anyone who is willing to change in their life for the positive. This book will give you access to some basic sells elements that will 10X your income , no Joke.

I rate this book a 5 out of 5 and will definitely read this at least twice a year

2016 Journey through Books

In my early years, I always saw books as something that only "Nerds" read. Who wants to get smart anyway right?  The books that I read and had the word Comic in front of it. When, I did give in to reading books, I ventured into titles such as Star Trek: The Next Generation - Xmen Planet X. As ridiculously awesome as the title seems, it was actually a very fun read. Here is a synopsis of the book if you would ever like to read it for yourself, Star Trek Cross Over .

The biggest influence and only reason I kept wanting to read books, was because I saw my aunt reading books all the time when I was growing up and to me she was the smartest person I knew. I just took the long road to get to books that would change my life and help me evolve into the person that I am today. My shift has gone from great comic books, to sci-fi, to now reading books for knowledge and insight.  NOW I thirst for the knowledge within each page and always looking for that 1 idea that will change my mindset.  Each book on development and insight, has many pages of great content, but usually only have 1 or 2 key ideas that will help mold and shift your mindset.

Throughout these last 10 years I have read many many books, but never really kept track of the key ideas that I have learned from each book. With that being said, in 2016 I will document my journey of each book I read. I will also rate the book, which will soley be my own opinion on a scale of 1-5 start rating, 5 being the best.

Criteria for rating:

  • Was their great value within the book
  • Ease of read for the average reader
  • Is the books message clear
  • Was the book Fun
  • Would I read anything else that the other produces
  • Would I follow the author on social media if still alive

Again these will be my opinions, and some will not agree with my point of view and  that is OK.

We embark on a journey of 36 books in 12 months!

IoT: Make your Mark

IoT is really designed to focus on enhancing the customer experience and making your company more agile and an incredible resource to your clients.
Here is one way IoT will make the end user experience when you can implement a proactive approach to be able to anticipate any failures that may be looming on equipment. The sensors will alert a repair crew all via messages and alerts and the crew can go out to the work site to address the issue before it causes serious down time or major equipment malfunction.
Very glad to be a part of this with my company.

What is this Machine to Machine stuff?

What is Machine to Machine ??
Wireless communications are needed by all of us for the purpose of connecting with the internet and other human beings. It is true that machines talk to one another, but the involvement of a human is present on at least one side. Machine to Machine or M2M basically permits both wired and wireless systems to communicate with similar devices. M2M is a very broad term when it comes to information and communications technology. Business executives mainly use M2M technology as it is considered to be an essential part of Internet of Things (IoT).

The whole concept of M2M is based on the idea that there is no need to an individual to initiate a communication. To make things more clear; here are some examples. Why not take a coffee machine that can be remotely controlled by the owner using a phone or tablet for the purpose of brewing it? Or, we know that smoke alarms are found in every house and building. They make a loud unpleasant noise when smoke is detected. What if it was possible for the smoke alarm to make an emergency call to the nearest fire station or to the owner’s smartphone?

M2M products bring a number of advantages to businesses and industry. These products consist of cognitive, intelligent and semi-robotic devices which can understand as well as perform their tasks with good productivity. M2M products are not something new; they have been incorporated in different sectors around us for years. Here are some examples:
  • ·         Car and truck fleet management system is an example of M2M technology. Through this, transport companies can track their automobiles quite easily. There is an online grocery store situated in Britain which delivers refrigerated goods to its customers. Inside their delivery trucks is a microchip transmitter through which the headquarters of the company gets temperature updated in order to avoid food spoilage.

  • ·         M2M technology has also been incorporated in the healthcare sector. Exercising equipment equipped with M2M can send dynamic data related to a person’s body, directly to his healthcare provider.

  • ·         Through smart utility and electricity meters, customers get assistance in regulating their power usage. A benefit gained by M2M technology here is that air conditioners can be slowed down when electricity gets expensive. This is also known as smart power monitoring.

Major mobile operators have joined forces for the purpose of developing a single global M2M platform for multi-network and multinational businesses. M2M applications have also been developed for enterprises. M2M products are in retail such as telematics, smart grids, insurance, public safety and healthcare.
